My first year at SKAN has been a valuable journey of learning, growth, and professional development. When I joined, I faced challenges in communicating with participants, conducting field visits, and independently managing project activities. However, with continuous guidance from my supervisors and support from my colleagues, I gradually gained confidence and improved my skills.
Throughout the year, I actively contributed to community outreach, participant screening and recruitment, data collection, dietary assessments, awareness programs, blood collection camps, stool sample kit management, and project documentation. These experiences strengthened my communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills while enhancing my ability to work effectively in the field.
In addition to fieldwork, I gained experience in data management and administrative tasks, including maintaining participant records, organizing documentation, using Excel and digital tools, and preparing reports. These responsibilities improved my attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role was supporting and guiding newly joined Field Data Collectors (FDCs). This experience strengthened my teamwork, leadership, and mentoring abilities while boosting my confidence in sharing knowledge and supporting others.
As I completed one year at SKAN, I feel more confident, adaptable, and professionally capable than when I started. This journey has taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, commitment, and community engagement. I am grateful to SKAN for the opportunities, learning experiences, and support provided throughout the year.
