Biography

Moumita’s academic and research background is rooted in biomarker discovery and development for infectious diseases like Dengue at the School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata (2019-2025; registered with Jadavpur University). Her PhD research focused on the identification and evaluation of patient derived blood-based biomarkers for predicting dengue severity. She designed and executed a series of experiments integrating LCMS/MS–based proteomic analysis, followed by validation. Additionally, her work involved the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles to develop point-of-care immunoassay.

During her Post-PhD (Research intern) at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, exploring the study of macrophage infiltration into pancreatic islets disrupts vital β-cell function through direct crosstalk, contributing to the progression of diabetes.

Research Areas

Currently at SKAN-RT, Moumita is currently investigating regional heterogeneity in Parkinson’s disease (PD) brains using postmortem tissue derived from the Indian population.
