It has been a year since I joined SKAN Research Trust, and this journey has contributed significantly to both my personality development and career growth. Coming from a different educational background, I was initially unsure about working in the research field. I was nervous about interacting with participants, conducting field visits independently, handling data collection responsibilities, and maintaining data accuracy. I often questioned whether I would be able to adapt to this new environment and perform my responsibilities effectively.

As a Field Data Collector, I have been involved in participant follow-ups, scheduling home collections, discrepancy checks, participant tracking, and coordinating with field and laboratory teams. These responsibilities have helped me develop strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

One of the biggest improvements I have seen in myself is my confidence. Regular interaction with participants from diverse backgrounds has helped me communicate more effectively and professionally. I have learned how to address participant concerns, build trust, and maintain positive relationships during study activities. Managing multiple tasks simultaneously has strengthened my problem-solving abilities and improved my ability to work efficiently under pressure. I also had the opportunity to support the training of new batch members by guiding them on study procedures, participant interactions, and data quality requirements. This experience helped me further develop my leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

This role has also enhanced my attention to detail through discrepancy checks and data quality activities. I have gained a better understanding of research protocols, data management, and the importance of accuracy and accountability. Through field activities, blood camps, and participant interactions, I have gained practical exposure to research operations and learned the value of collaboration and teamwork in achieving common goals.

The fears and uncertainty I experienced during my initial days have gradually been replaced by confidence and experience. Looking back, I am proud of how much I have learned and grown over the past year. What began as a completely new field for me has become a journey of continuous learning and self-improvement, helping me become more confident, adaptable, and professional.
