The Microscopy Facility is equipped with a cutting-edge Zeiss LSM 980 confocal system integrated with Airyscan 2 and NLO/Multiphoton capabilities, enabling high-resolution imaging for a wide range of biological applications.
The system features multiple laser excitation lines spanning visible (445, 488, 514, 561, 639 nm) and near-infrared (690–1040 nm) regions, allowing flexible imaging of diverse fluorophores. Detection is achieved through high-sensitivity spectral scanning using GaAsP and multi-alkali PMT detectors, ensuring excellent signal-to-noise ratios for precise quantitative imaging.
The Airyscan 2 detector, with its 32-element GaAsP array, provides up to 1.7× resolution enhancement, along with fast multiplex imaging, enabling detailed visualization of subcellular structures. The system supports a variety of objectives, including 5×, 10×, 20×, and 40× air, 40× water-immersion, and 63× oil-immersion, catering to both overview and high-magnification imaging needs.
Advanced acquisition and analysis are facilitated through ZEN Blue software, offering features such as smart setup, tile scanning, multi-position imaging, FRAP, FRET, FCS, deconvolution, and colocalization analysis. Additionally, Arivis Pro software enables sophisticated 3D visualization, batch processing, and automated analysis pipelines.
Together, these capabilities make the facility a powerful platform for high-resolution, multidimensional imaging, supporting cutting-edge research in cell biology, neuroscience, developmental biology, and translational science.
