Refresher Training for FDCs – HASP

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen field operations and ensure high-quality data collection within the HASP Study, the Second Refresher Training for Field Data Collectors (FDCs) was conducted on 17 June 2026.

The training was organized in response to observations from routine monitoring activities, field supervision reports, data quality assessments, and operational challenges encountered during participant follow-up, blood sample collection, and blood report dissemination. All 37 members of the team were in attendance for this training.

Morning Session: Identifying Challenges

  • The session commenced with weekly updates from the FDCs, followed by a review of common data entry errors identified through monitoring and quality assessments.
  • Participants were divided into four teams and engaged in a brainstorming activity to identify and document challenges encountered during fieldwork, blood collection, and blood report dissemination.
  • Each team subsequently presented its findings and discussed the key issues identified.

Warm-up Activity

  • A game of Dumb Charades was conducted to energize participants, encourage teamwork, and promote effective non-verbal communication.

Afternoon Session: Developing Solutions

  • Based on the challenges identified during the morning group activity, the Research Assistants (RAs) and FDCs collaboratively discussed potential solutions and improvement strategies.
  • The proposed solutions and recommendations were documented by the facilitators for future action and follow-up.
