Biosketch

I am a researcher and Genomics scientist working in the field of human microbiome and Genomics at the SKAN Research Institute. My research interests focus on understanding Role of gut microbiome in health and diseases, Gut microbiome community structure and interactions with host, germline & somatic variants in various diseases.

I completed my PHD in experimental medicine (Genomics) from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional Escuela Superior de Medicina (IPN-ESM), Mexico and completed my post-doctoral training at Manipal School of life sciences, MAHE, India. During my PhD and postdoctoral research, I investigated genomic, transcriptomic, and microbiome changes across a range of disease conditions. After completing my postdoctoral training, I served as the lead/head for the sequencing facility and the Personalized Medicine and Oncology division at a private diagnostics company.

In addition to my wet lab research, I have also contributed significantly and is one of the authors of SciDAVis (SciDAVis – Wikipedia) and a fork of the same called Alpha Plot (AlphaPlot download | SourceForge.net).

As part of the SKAN–Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB) collaboration, Dr. Arun Narayanankutty served as a Visiting Scientist at QIB from April to July 2025. During this period, he worked on the standardization of TraDIS-Xpress in clinical strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae. The primary objective of this work was to optimize the protocol and facilitate technology transfer to SKAN.
