Arinjay Gire is a Technical Assistant with a background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics and a strong interest in microbiome genomics and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). He is currently involved in gut microbiome research, supporting both laboratory and computational aspects of genomics-driven research.
His work includes high-throughput DNA extraction, sequencing library preparation for Illumina and Oxford Nanopore platforms, anaerobic bacterial isolation and cultivation, whole-genome sequencing (WGS), and shotgun metagenomic sequencing. He also performs bioinformatics analyses of microbiome and microbial genome datasets using R and Linux-based platforms. In addition, he contributes to the optimization of sequencing protocols, the development and implementation of reproducible bioinformatics pipelines, and workflow validation to support ongoing genomics and microbiome research projects.
Prior to joining SKAN Research Trust, he worked at the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, where he contributed to the project ‘Indian Human Gut Microbiome of select Endogamous Populations’ and ‘Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG)’ through sample collection and NGS library preparation, whole-genome sequencing, and sequencing data analysis.
His research interests include microbial genomics, host–microbiome interactions, sequencing technologies, and the application of bioinformatics approaches to understand the role of the gut microbiome in health and disease.
